Celebrating Sally

Sally

Unity’s Office Manager, Sally Brissenden, has announced that she will be retiring at the end of June. Sally’s last day in the office will be June 30th, 2022. Please join me in thanking Sally for 15 years of service to this church! Her first day was on Oct. 8, 2007. A lot has happened within the church since then! And Sally has been a cheerful presence through it all. Her smile every time someone came through the front door of the office has been a constant you could rely on through the years.

I’ve immensely enjoyed the time I’ve spent working alongside Sally. One of the characteristics I’ve noticed most is her willingness to help in any and all situations. Anytime a staff member presented a project, problem, or unexpected task, Sally would be among the first to volunteer to assist. And always with a positive attitude.

I bet you found this to be true as well. I’ve often overheard one of the congregation members calling the church with an issue to be solved or a question that needed answering. Sally took a lot of personal pride in making sure that each person who called received what they needed in a timely manner.

Sally says “I have truly enjoyed working for Unity Presbyterian Church these past 15 years and love the people that are the church. I’ve prayed many hours about my decision and I know God has more planned for me. Thank you.”

I have no doubt that God is already planning how to use Sally’s gifts and abilities in this next stage of her life. God will continue to use her joyful presence, willing spirit, and faithful attitude.

Janeen Dishman served as Sally’s direct supervisor during her tenure. Here’s what Janeen had to say about working with Sally: Sally has been instrumental in the behind-the-scenes work at Unity. It is usually her beautiful work you see displayed around the sanctuary as she uses her gifts of decorating on our beautiful tables. She has also been the other half of my brain, keeping me on track with details and minutiae that might otherwise have been overlooked. And she is just so sweet! I’ll miss her smiling face and friendly attitude most of all!

A reception will be held for Sally on June 26 between services in the Fellowship Hall. Please come and share your thanks with Sally for her service to this church. If you would like to bring a card, we will have a basket to collect them, or you can mail a card to Sally at 7942 Lucky Creek Lane. Denver, NC 28037.

The session has authorized a hiring committee to replace this position. You will be hearing from them more in the future.

This Sunday is Youth and Graduation Sunday. Join us as we celebrate the youth of this church!

See you on Sunday!
