Introducing Rev. Dana Seiler

I am THRILLED to announce the hiring of Rev. Dana Seiler as Unity’s Associate Pastor! The congregational vote was unanimous and enthusiastic on Sunday. Dana’s first Sunday at Unity will be May 3. A welcome reception will be held after each service.

As a way of getting to know Dana, I e-mailed her a couple of questions. Here are her responses:

David: What are some of your favorite hobbies?

Dana: Favorite hobbies include: kayaking, biking, hiking, skiing.  I also enjoy attending sporting events, food festivals, going to the movies, and laying in a hammock.

David: Tell us a bit about your family.

Dana: I am the middle child, with an older sister and younger brother.  All of my family lives in Roanoke, Virginia where I grew up.  I married Matthew Seiler on November 23, 2019.  Our “new” family includes a 1 year old french bulldog named Blue.

David: What makes you excited about joining Unity?

Dana: There are so many things that make me excited about Unity.  1.  I am excited to join a church family that is growing and thriving.  2.  I am excited that Unity has a heart for mission.  3.  I am excited to learn more about the efforts of the Compassion Peace and Justice team, and plugging-in. 3.  I am highly looking forward to working with the youth and creating a program that will nurture their faith and provide a loving and supportive community for them.

David: Besides Jesus, who is your favorite person in the Bible and why?

Dana: Paul. I love how Paul underwent such a transformative process during his Road to Damascus experience.  I love how that experience created a deep desire to spread the good news.  I can liken it to my own zeal of wanting to share the good news with others.

Unity is extremely fortunate to have someone of Dana’s caliber join our staff. I personally am excited to see how God will use Dana to continue the incredible ministry efforts of this congregation. This is an extremely exciting time to be a part of Unity!

Dana will be holding some “get to know you” events after she arrives. We will e-mail you those details when they become available. Until then, please be praying for Dana and Matthew as they transition from one church and community to another.

I want to especially thank the Associate Pastor Nominating Committee for all of their hard work over the past year. Jeannette Aimutis served as the chair of this committee. She provided a caring presence and a guiding hand as the PNC navigated the complicated call process. The PNC members were diligent, dedicated, and extremely passionate about finding the right person for Unity. Please thank Chris Koehler, Chris Easterling, Gail Satterthwaite, Elaine Jenkins and Dave McCrostie when you see them around church!

On Sunday we will continue our 40 Days Of Promise series as we study the story of Abraham.

See you on Sunday!
