Authentic Community

Did you miss the big announcement?
Beginning on March 1, I am inviting all church members to join a Unity Group for a six-week period. Each group will meet once a week at a time/day that works best for their schedule. Sign up here: http://bit.ly/UPCGroups.
George Gallup said, “Americans are among the loneliest people in the world.” Many of us live busy lives with overcommitted schedules. We may be around people all the time, but we do not feel truly known.
We are with people at work, at sporting events, at the gym; yes, we are surrounded by people…but are we deeply known?
God created us as a relational species. We are made with a strong yearning for authentic connection with other people.
Unity Groups is a step toward authentic community.
March 1 is the beginning of the season of Lent (the 40 days before Easter). We will begin a preaching series called 40 Days Of Promise. This series is based on the promises God made to Abraham that were eventually fulfilled in Jesus (you can get a head start by reading Genesis 12).
Unity Groups will be an opportunity to discuss in small groups the content that is shared on Sunday mornings. Childcare is available upon request.
While we don’t need more things to attend, we do need the kind of life-giving benefits that occur when people connect regularly in a meaningful way.
“As our lungs require air, so our souls require what only community provides. We were designed to live in relationship.”
-Larry Crabb

My hope is that these groups become a community of people who will support and encourage you as you seek to become more like Christ.

“Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another…”
-Hebrews 10:24

See you on Sunday as we continue our Kingdom of God series.
