Many of us are fortunate to have savings and investments to fall back on when the unexpected happens. That’s why we feel called to help our neighbors who are struggling right now due to shutdowns caused by coronavirus distancing. Unity Presbyterian has set up a relief fund to help displaced workers, especially in local restaurants and service industries that have been ordered to close, and those who have seen their income drop during this unprecedented time. We hope you will join us by donating to this fund above your regular giving to Unity.
These funds will be exclusively used to issue cash payments to anyone in the East Lincoln area who has a need. Anyone who has been laid off or had their hours cut due to this virus could apply for a $200 gift per family.
We hope you will take a moment to go to our giving page and make a donation. You will see the topic “Virus Relief” under the mission contribution heading. You can also use the Give + Mobile App, and find Virus Relief under the giving options. Or, you can also mail a check to the church office at 8210 Unity Church Rd, Denver, NC 28037 and simply mark it for Virus Relief Fund. Text to Give is also available by texting the amount and VIRUS to 833-398-0048. (Simply texting an amount with no word afterward will send the donation to Unity’s general fund.) If you have not used this text service before, follow the instructions to set up your account.
If you know of anyone who would benefit by some extra funding right now, have them send an email to email@example.com with their name, address, and place of employment. We hope to begin writing checks by Friday and will continue for the next several months or as long as funding remains.
Thank you all for everything you are doing to “be the church” in these unusual times.
