Our faith grows through worship, of course, but under girding the experience of worship is the practice of gathering around God's word with God's people. All ages in our church have an opportunity to spend time in study and to grow in faith.
Our little ones are offered Bible stories each Sunday in our Sunday school classes which meet from 9:45-10:45am in the Education Building. Vacation Bible School, (ages 3-middle school), a summer Drama Camp and the opportunity to attend summer camp at Camp Grier are powerful additions to the regular curriculum. The Topsy Turvy program for children in kindergarten through 5th grade (meets fall through spring on Sunday afternoons) includes Bible study, music, drama and recreation.
Middle School Youth in the CYC and High School Youth in the conference room in the office building explore biblically based programs. Their regular Sunday afternoon/evening programming is supported by Presbytery events at Montreat or Camp Grier, as well as a wonderful variety of recreation, service and mission opportunities.
Adults may chose from the long-established Joy Sunday School class (in the meeting room) which engages in topical studies throughout the year. They have enjoyed such programs as Rick Warren’s "The Purpose Driven Life," Randy Alcorn’s “Heaven,” and Ray Vander Laan’s series, “Faith Lessons.”
The Seekers class, a newer Sunday School class meeting upstairs in the Education Building, has a lot of lively discussions while studying topics like "The Early Church,” “From Peter and Paul to the Presbyterians,” and “Applying Judeo-Chrisian Beliefs to our Daily Lives,” to name a few.
Other opportunities present themselves throughout the year and have featured study series with well-known authors like Beth Moore, Ray Vander Laan, Liz Curtis Higgs, and Margaret Feinberg as well as solid Bible Studies and courses in spirituality. We also meet for movies, breakfast, all-church retreats, and women's retreats.
