Small but Important Improvements: You will notice automatic hand sanitizers to the right of both gathering area doors. These are automatic dispensers- just wave your hand underneath. With the elevated risk of the h1n1 virus plus other health concerns, Unity wants you to feel free to still shake your neighbor’s hand. Also, ear buds have been purchased for use in worship. If you rely on our sound amplification each week, you may pick up a set and either put your name on them or take them home and bring them back each week.

From the Mailbox:
Dear Unity Church,
I would like to thank the whole congregation for their support over the years. Whether it was my confirmation, serving as liturgist, or now graduating and temporarily leaving Unity, I truly appreciate the encouragement and well wishes everyone had for me. Thank you again for the gifts. They will serve as a reminder that I will always have a home at Unity.

An Update on “Making God’s House Our Home” Campaign: Eight months ago, we began a journey of raising the funds to assist us in retiring our debt for all of the wonderful new additions to Unity’s campus – including our beautiful sanctuary. As of the end of May – and the seventh month of our campaign – we are right on schedule in meeting our $562,126 goal! As of the end of May, we have received almost $145,00. The $145,000, along with unpledged gifts to the campaign, puts us at around 22 percent of our goal. And, if we continue down this path, we may be able to achieve $600,000 toward our vision. Thanks to all of our Unity family for making our capital campaign successful and on schedule!

Candy's Leaving Us: After being our organist/accompanist for four years, Candy Hayes has decided to move on, having resigned last Sunday. Her last Sunday at Unity is this coming Sunday, June 28, so you'll have a chance to say goodbye, thank her for the bucket-load of notes that she's played over the last years, and wish her well in the future.

The Joy Class has a new teacher, while regular teacher Ann Wilson is away. She is Katie Sigmon, who is using the Ray Vander Laan, DVD series, "Faith Lessons." The second lesson will begin this coming Sunday, June 28, at 9:45am in the meeting room. If you didn't get a chance to attend Carol's sessions in April using this series, here is another chance for you to explore the lands of the Bible. After seeing these videos, you and your family will never read the Bible the same again.

We had the pleasure of baptizing Peyton Ogens at the 11:00 service last week. At the 11:00 service this Sunday, June 28, we will have the joy of baptizing Evan Plemmons, making this our third baptism this month.

Worship this Week: This week we continue our series of faith practices focusing on worship. Carol will be preaching from Ephesians ,1 which is an explosion of praise! The children from VBS will sing at the 9:30 service and the choir at 11:00. Please help welcome Candy’s friend, Jason Burdett, as he enhances our worship with the music of a violin. Bring a heart full of praise and a friend to worship!

More than 150 young people and scores of volunteers from Unity and St. Peter’s By the Lake Episcopal Church gathered this week at Unity for an incredible week of Vacation Bible School. Many thanks to everyone who gave both their time and love of children so all might learn more of God’s love.

Our Vacation Bible School campers at Camp E.D.G.E. (Experience and Discover God Everywhere) made many wonderful treks this week. On Monday with Joshua, they visited the promised land. On Tuesday, they traveled to Bethlehem. Wednesday, they visited the home of a Pharisee. Thursday, they were with Jesus in the Upper Room. And on Friday, they went to Galilee to receive their own great commission to share God's love. Those travels, combined with great music, crafts, recreation, and lunch, made Camp E.D.G.E an extremely good experience for our young people. Pictured above, Mayme Lou Roettig leads the 4th grade class through their bible lessons.
